Enhance Skills, Boost Confidence with THMA Mentoring

THMA members have always had post-training access to mentoring in medical aesthetics. We’re now pleased to offer a full package of training and mentoring to non- members. It’s strongly advised that everyone takes time to practice before going off on your own.

In no field of medicine is anyone expected to go directly from training to work. It’s why mentoring in medical aesthetics is so important, both for provider confidence in their Botox and fillers injecting and the safety of their patients.

At THMA, we make it our mission to support trainees and guide them as they advance towards careers in medical aesthetics in Canada. Their time with us is definitely not over after they get certificates for completing our  Medical Aesthetics Foundation Course. We don’t say they are ready for work; we say they’ve taken a big first step and urge and encourage them to continue their education with THMA Mentoring from one of our professional clinical trainers in Canada.

“You can’t just take courses and fly on your own.” – Emma Wisken NP, THMA Trainee.

THMA members have always had follow-up options with One-on-One Mentoring and Peer-to-Peer Mentoring (see below) at any time after training. We have also welcomed non-members who might not have that ongoing support. But unfortunately, many found that their previous training was sorely lacking in the essential knowledge of facial anatomy and they didn’t feel comfortable in doing treatments that are safe as well as effective. We’ve come up with a solution:

Non-Members Mentoring Program

Enhanced skills, confidence and patient safety.

This two-day workshop for injectors who have not trained with THMA will include the 4-hour virtual training Foundation Course Component 1: Facial Anatomy to provide the injectors with essential information on muscles, blood vessels, nerves and bony structures.

That fundamental knowledge of the anatomy, and the guide and resources that are included in the virtual course, will prepare non-member guests to work directly with a THMA clinical  trainer, doing various treatments on as many patients as desired for up to 6 hours. THMA will provide 6 syringes of filler and two vials of neurotoxin (Botox, for example). Participants will pay for any product beyond that.

Completion of the Associate Members Mentoring workshop will gain full THMA membership status and access to continuous education, ongoing support and more benefits. The cost of this two-day training and mentoring workshop is $3500. Contact Us for more information and the registration.

“I am beyond impressed  with how structured and informative you have created this whole training program. THMA has given me so many resources to help me feel more confident and safe in my injection techniques.” – Kariya Arciga RPN

One-on-One Mentoring

Aesthetics providers who have completed the THMA Foundation Courses can book a half day or full day of mentoring. Participants will need to inform us on what procedures they wish to focus on and how many of their own patients will attend and receive injections. Appointments should be booked with the THMA clinical trainer from their Foundation Course 4.

Peer-to-Peer Mentoring

THMA members can receive medical aesthetics mentoring with as many as five of their colleagues in one session. The advantage of group Peer-to-Peer mentoring includes the opportunity to observe others doing injections. Colleagues in a group will often be patients as well as providers; there is definite learning in how treatments and injections feel. The group setting also allows for shared communication with the trainer and colleagues on actual practices and issues related to medical aesthetics. Please note that not all THMA training centres can accommodate groups for mentoring. Contact Us for assistance.

Regardless of training background, it so makes sense for everyone to take some time to practice before going off on your own. Ultimately, it’s the patients who benefit from this with treatments done properly and safely.
