Why Policies Manuals are a MUST in Medical Aesthetics
For Jena Atkinson, the years-long development of a policy manual for her medical aesthetics practice was both a labour of love and an absolute necessity. THMA is happy to collaborate with Jena to design customized must-have manuals for all aesthetics injectors and cosmetic clinics.
Every procedure done in medical aesthetics has to be guided by a policy that details clear and consistent guidelines for individual professionals or an entire team at a medical aesthetics clinic.

Detailed and Comprehensive
“Safe practice and patient safety are ultimately the greatest reason to have this,” says Jena Atkinson, who is now working with THMA to create customized, in-depth policy manuals for aesthetics injectors and clinic owners. “But policy manuals are also an important protective measure in liability issues. People need to have this in their practice to safeguard themselves.”
THMA is now offering a revised and more detailed policy manual for specific practices. They are designed to include the practice environment, training and qualifications, accountability, pharmaceutical policies, all aesthetics procedures, and adverse events. The customized manuals from THMA are generally 300 pages or more.
“Not very many training companies offer policy manuals, and the few I’ve seen are only about 30 pages,” says Jena, who is now owner of ATKCO. Medical Aesthetics after a career worked in acute care at Ottawa’s Civic Hospital. “It’s important to be detailed and comprehensive.”
Jena spent more then six years working on a policy manual for her practice. After extensive research and additions, she ended up with a manual she was both proud of and wanted to share with others.
“I worked so hard on this putting this together, but it was not serving any greater purpose just sitting with me. I really wanted everyone to access this, and through THMA I’m glad this will happen. I’m really excited that we are working together to get proper policy manuals into hands of others in the field.”
Basically what we’ve done is combine THMA’s current policy content with Jena’s extensive work to make an even more detailed and thorough manual with references included. For an investment of $1200 for the policies and directive, the policy manual from THMA will be a valuable and useful asset in any practice or clinic. If a clinic already has a policy manual and only requires medical directives, we can provide those as well for a cost of $500.
Customized for Individual Practices
The manuals are presented as working documents that can be customized for procedures now and can be amended as things develop in a practice. Practitioners will receive a questionnaire that will provide us with specific details about everything that is offered in their practice. Jena will take that survey information and customize the content within the broad policy manual to reflect and protect individual practices. Watermarked pages will protect identification authenticity. Recipients will sign an agreement to only use the policy manual for their own use. Distribution or dissemination is strictly prohibited (see below).
