Face to Face Education
Nurses and physicians in the specialty of aesthetic medicine who want to enhance their knowledge and aesthetic injections through a deep understanding of the anatomy are invited to join us in November 13. The Halifax Facial Anatomy Lab is open to basic and advanced injectors.
This high-level education event at the Surgical Skills Centre at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax will go well beyond a basic’ cadaver lab.’ The full day of education on facial anatomy in relation to aesthetic medicine will also include pre-work study guides that focus on anatomy, injection techniques, danger zones and adverse events.

Lab Objectives
Attendees will learn and practice injection techniques, dissect to visualize placement of product, and discuss the most current protocols for potential adverse events dermal filler and botulinum toxin products. The 7-hour workshop will include a detailed anatomical journey accompanied by cadaveric pictures and live dissection. Participants will:
1. Understand the importance of anatomy layers to visualize placement of injection product
2. Identify high risk areas related to aesthetic injections through careful dissection
3. Discuss prevention and management of an adverse event related to aesthetic injection
The lab instructors will be Julie Bass Kaplan MSN, FNP-BC, NP-C, CANS, CPSN, HCMT, PHN, an experienced aesthetic professional and trainer from California, and Tracey Hotta BScN, RN, CPSN-R, CANS, ISPAN-F, aesthetic medicine pioneer and President of THMA Consulting in Halifax.
