In-depth Training Course Puts Safety First
Everyone in medical aesthetics should know everything they can about risks and complications. That’s why THMA is launching a new Supplementary Course this fall that will focus fully on adverse events. Because the more you know, the better for you and your patients!
It’s our responsibility as providers to know the risks in medical aesthetics, and to talk with patients about the risks when doing pre-treatment consent forms. Recognizing this responsibility to talk to patients about adverse events in advance gives them comfort and an understanding of what could happen and what will happen in the prevention of or management of a complication.
It’s incredibly important.
This has been the motivation for development of the research-based THMA course - Identification, Management and Prevention of Aesthetics Injection Adverse Events.
Concentrating on hyaluronic acids fillers and neuromodulators like Botox, we are taking education on adverse events to the highest level. You will in this course know how to identify it, how to treatment it, and how to prevent adverse events in the first place. An adverse event becomes a complication when not identified or caught early.
The more you know, the better you’ll do.
THMA clinical trainer Jennifer Holman will teach the virtual three-hour Supplementary Course beginning in September. Jennifer has a tremendous interest in this topic and has absorbed great volumes of knowledge on adverse events through international seminars and courses.

The THMA Aesthetics Injection Adverse Events Course will be in-depth and thorough from start to finish. Participants will:
1. Discuss the importance of a detailed medical history.
2. Understand the importance of infection prevention in a medical aesthetic clinic.
3. Discuss the identification, management and prevention of potential adverse events related to botulinum toxin A injections.
4. Understand the pharmacology of hyaluronidase.
5. Discuss the identification, management and prevention of potential adverse events related to hyaluronic acid injections.
6. Identify other potential adverse events.
The course trains providers to be more aware and more knowledgeable. Simply put: the more you know, the better you’ll do. Ultimately, it’s about increased patient safety. Without knowledge patients are more at risk, says Jennifer, who also teaches the THMA Supplementary Course on Authorized Prescriber in Collaborative Practice.

The adverse events course will include other measures to improve safety in a medical aesthetics practice. We will discuss infection prevention. We offer facility recommendations to ensure a safe working environment. We will stress the importance of thorough medical history to determine if contraindications exist.
